On 28 June about 3 pm, a wildfire took hold of the North Mink Creek area outside of Pocatello Idaho. The fire necessitated the evacuation 2,000 people. It raged across the ridges of the mountains between the Caribou National Forest and the City of Pocatello. The fire was slowed but is not contained at 10 pm. Early reports indicate that many homes are lost. By Sunday, 1 July, the fire was 85% contained. The final count of homes lost was 66. The reported count for other structures like barns and sheds was 31.
