I have a computer program that lets me transfer our house plans into 3D models. I can make a flat plan come to life. We can walk around in our simulated house and look to see how we like the way our new house is shaping up.
I have had a hobby of workout out floor plans since the 4th grade when Mrs Belcher instructed us in the mysteries of doing floor plans. We each had to draw a plan for a kitchen. I was so intent on getting mine right I wore right through the paper. My mom got me more paper and I started over. I drew the little tiles on the floor and the range and the sink. That assignment sent me on a life-long journey of envisioning space, of twisting it and turning it and rotating it and moving parts of it all for the sheer joy of seeing what it could become. The hungry fire ate my modest sketch books of floor plans. The fire ate my stacks and stacks of house plan books that I had accumulated over the years. Each was dog-eared and had more than one plan had walls penciled in or taken out here and there. Every house was interesting, not just one house but any house.
Now it is one house. It is our house. We dream of sleeping in our own bed in our own house on our own sheets with our own family. Until that day we will continue to spend time in our simulated world where our house resides.

We don’t know what things will actually be like but it is fun to imagine how your house will unfold. The 3D images make it seem real even though each picture is just that, a picture. Someday the real picture will appear. For now, we can make simulations and dream.
